Job Summary
We’re seeking an experienced Storage Administrator to own and operate NetApp ONTAP environments and lead large-scale storage migrations from on‑premises to Azure. You’ll manage daily storage operations (NAS/SAN), design and implement Azure storage solutions (ANF, CVO, Azure Files/Blob), and drive data migration with a strong focus on performance, security, availability, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize NetApp ONTAP (AFF/FAS, HA pairs, SVMs, volumes/qtrees, LUNs, QoS, dedupe/compression).
- Plan and execute on‑prem → Azure migrations using SnapMirror, BlueXP (Cloud Manager), NetApp XCP, DataBox/Azure Migrate, and related tooling.
- Design and support Azure storage services: Azure NetApp Files (ANF), Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO), Azure Files/Blob, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute/VPN.
- Implement backup/DR: SnapMirror/SVM-DR, SnapVault, SnapCenter; Azure site recovery patterns and RPO/RTO objectives.
- Automate provisioning and operations via PowerShell/Python, ONTAP REST API, and IaC (Terraform/Bicep).
- Monitor and tune performance with Active IQ Unified Manager, Cloud Insights, Azure Monitor/Log Analytics.
- Enforce security: RBAC, NVE/NSE, encryption with Key Vault (CMEK), SMB/NFS ACLs, least privilege.
- Participate in change, incident, and problem management (ITIL), capacity planning, and cost optimization (FinOps).
- Create documentation/runbooks and mentor L2/L1 teams; participate in on-call rotation.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–8+ years with NetApp ONTAP (AFF/FAS), NAS/SAN (NFS/SMB/iSCSI), SnapMirror/SnapVault, SnapCenter, Active IQ Unified Manager.
- Hands-on with Azure storage: ANF or CVO (at least one), Azure Files, Blob, networking (VNets, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute), IAM (Entra ID).
- Proven track record migrating petabyte-/hundreds-of-terabytes-scale datasets to Azure with minimal downtime.
- Scripting/automation (PowerShell or Python) and experience with Terraform/Bicep/ARM.
- Solid understanding of performance (IOPS/latency/throughput), capacity planning, and HA/DR.
- Strong documentation, stakeholder communication, and change management discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Kubernetes storage (Astra Trident with AKS), FlexGroup volumes.
- Experience with Veeam/Commvault, Azure Backup, StorageGRID.
- Compliance frameworks (SOX/PCI/HIPAA), encryption KMS/Key Vault.
- Certifications: NetApp NCDA/NCIE, Microsoft Azure (AZ‑104/305/900), ITIL v4, Terraform Associate.
Success Metrics (KPIs)
- Storage uptime & SLA adherence; MTTR for P1/P2.
- Migration cutover success (no data loss), throughput vs. plan, RPO/RTO met.
- Performance (e.g., <2–4 ms latency for critical tiers) and capacity forecast accuracy.
- Cost optimization (rightsizing tiers/QoS/LRS-ZRS-GRS choices) and automation coverage.
