End-to-end Oracle Fusion Cloud implementation for a medical supplies distributor
A US-based healthcare distributor outgrew its on-premise Oracle EBS as revenue and order volumes expanded. CES implemented Oracle Fusion Cloud with OIC integrations, large-scale FBDI/PLSQL data migration, and targeted enhancements across O2C, P2P, ship & debit, tax, and finance – unlocking higher throughput, faster month-end close, and a 30% reduction in ERP total cost of ownership.

The Need
The distributor needed a cloud ERP platform to replace its constrained EBS system and support high-volume HDMS orders, ecommerce traffic, ship & debit programs, tax processing, and financial reporting. Leadership required a scalable model with stronger automation, lower TCO, remote accessibility, and improved order, shipment, and reporting control.
Challenges
- Legacy EBS Constraints at Scale: EBS customizations and processes limited transaction volume and slowed O2C, P2P, and financial workflows.
- Manual and Fragmented Operational Processes: Amazon/Walmart ecommerce orders were processed manually, AP invoices lacked automation, track-and-trace compliance was manual, ship & debit reporting was complex and unstable, and sales tax calculation and reporting were tedious.
- Complex Integration, Reporting & Access Limitations: Reconciliation with HDMS (covering 80% of revenue) was difficult, transactional reporting was limited, development cycles were long, and VPN/Java dependencies created access and uptime issues for remote users.
CES executed a 15-month Oracle Fusion Cloud program combining process redesign, phased implementation, OIC integrations, and high-volume data migration to stabilize and scale the client’s operations.
- Fusion Cloud for Core Operations: Enabled unified order, inventory, procurement, shipping, returns, receivables, payables, and financial reporting.
- OIC-Based Integrations: Connected Fusion with HDMS, ecommerce platforms, tax and payment systems, intranet, and banking partners.
- Large-Scale Data Migration: Converted master and transactional data using FBDI and custom PLSQL workflows, including 3M one-time customers.
- Pricing, Ship & Debit, and Tax Enhancements: Delivered custom pricing logic, ship & debit automation, and sales tax capabilities through extensions and reports.
- AP, Bank & Operational Automation: Applied IDR, automated bank reconciliation, min-max logic, and Groovy-based rules to increase productivity and control.
- 20% Warehouse Throughput Improvement – Warehouse throughput increased by 20%, especially for cash-order shipping aligned with HDMS processes, achieved with fewer staff.
- 50% Increase in Amazon/Walmart Order Volumes – Automated ecommerce file processing three times per day supported a 50% increase in order volume from marketplace channels.
- 40% Faster Month-End Close – A 40% reduction in monthly close cycle time through detailed HDMS AR interfaces, financial automation, and better reporting.
- 30% AP Productivity Gain – AP invoice automation via IDR accelerated payments and improved vendor satisfaction.
- 30% ERP TCO Reduction – Pay-as-you-use cloud model, no hosting/maintenance cost, and streamlined operations lowered overall ERP total cost of ownership by 30%.
- Faster Onboarding & Better Analytics – ERP onboarding time dropped from three hours to one hour, with improved analytics and reporting.
